Marcoola

We arrived at Marcoola yesterday. The traffic from Ipswich to here was ridiculously heavy, almost as bad as the Gold Coast. How people put up with it day in day out I have no idea. I suppose they just get used to it and treat the traffic jams as normal.

We are staying in the same complex “Marcoola Beach Resort” as we stayed in the Christmas before last. The main reasons we choose to stay here again is: it was available, it was reasonably priced and the pool and spa are both heated. Whilst looking for accommodation I read so many reviews for various resorts along the lines of “great resort but the pool was freezing”.

I think the ideal destination would be Bowen in winter and the Sunshine Coast in summer. Mainly because in Bowen you can’t swim in the sea over summer because of the danger of marine stingers.

Pauline, Vicki and I have been in both the pool and the spa today. Craig on the other hand has been busy reading some of the 5,429 books I have put on his new ereader. Craig’s old ereader, which would have to be at least ten years old was playing up so after a bit of online research to establish the best ereader for Craig we visited JB HiFi. He now has an ereader that is so much faster and with more advanced features over his old Sony. Now its just a matter of him getting familiar with it.

We have been for several walks on the beach but whilst the lifeguards are on duty no one is in the water swimming. Maybe in the coming days we will venture into the surf. It is after all winter here and the temperatures, both water and air, just don’t compare to Bowen. However it is certainly a lot warmer than Orford!
